| | Chad Schwendeman remembers the summer of ’88 like it was
yesterday. But then again, it’s not too often that a 16-year-old
boy bikes his way across the country from Seattle to Atlantic City
in the Ride for Life to support the American Lung Association. For
Chad, it truly proved to be the ride of a lifetime.
The Foundation for
Success
Pedaling over 3,700 miles that
summer in sweltering temperatures that averaged 90 degrees, Chad
discovered the drive, dedication and spirit of determination that
would eventually become the foundation for his personal and
professional success.
The Achievement of a
Goal
With exhaustion and self-doubt
setting in and his legs growing weaker by the hour, it would have
been easy to quit. Indeed, many on that journey did just that. Chad,
however, never gave up and when he finally crossed the finish line,
he had not only achieved his goal, but he had proven to himself that
he could accomplish anything in life if he was willing to work hard
enough.
As
a Brainerd Lakes native, Chad loves being able to raise
his family and own a business in the area he grew up.
